Cheeky's Latest Clinical Study
To evaluate our bar soap, we worked with an independent research group and conducted a clinical study with a representative population of volunteers. We collected data in three areas:
Skin Hydration - We used precise measurements in a controlled clinical research environment to assess how much moisture the skin retained after washing with our soap; both immediately after use and 2 hours later.
Skin Barrier Function - We also measured water loss from the skin’s surface under the same research conditions. This provided data on how well the skin’s barrier integrity was maintained and retained its natural moisture.
Consumer Experience - To supplement the quantitative testing, participants also completed structured questionnaires about their experience with focus on how their skin felt after use; specifically emphasizing skin comfort, softness, and if they experienced any irritation.
The quantitative data and participant feedback allowed us to understand the measurable effects on skin health and personal experience from using the soap.
Key Clinical Outcomes
-
Hydration Efficacy:
1. The bar soap produced a statistically significant increase in skin hydration compared to untreated skin.
2. Skin hydration improved by ~78% within 15 minutes and remained ~62% higher after 2 hours.
-
Skin Barrier Protection:
1. TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss) measurements showed a 22% reduction in water loss at 15 minutes and 18% reduction at 2 hours.
2. This indicates the soap strengthens and protects the skin barrier, just behind petroleum jelly in performance.
-
Consumer Perception (Self-Perception Questionnaire):
At 15 minutes:
- 100% said their skin felt immediately moisturized.
- 94% said skin felt soft and smooth.
- 97% said they were satisfied overall.
At 2 hours:
- 100% still reported feeling moisturized, nourished, gentle, and irritation-free.
- 100% said they would recommend the soap to friends/family with dry skin.
-
Safety & Tolerability:
No adverse reactions were reported among all 32 participants.
The soap was rated as gentle and non-irritating, suitable for everyday use—even on sensitive areas.
